Letter From Pune, India - By Nirmala
Dear Ones:
Having been away for over a month, Dharmadas and I were thrilled to see the
progress that Jaya and all the others have made on the new community land.
The monsoon season has just begun, and everything is turning green and lush.
It really is beautiful out there. I've included photos in this email, which
I made low-res in the hope that they will download for you quickly. Let me
know if they come through alright.
Swamiji's house is starting to go up! piles of bricks, sand, gravel, re-bar,
and other building materials have been stockpiled at the site, (once the
monsoon gets going, deliveries will be impossible.) At this point the JCB is
still able to move earth around since the rainfall hasn't been too heavy
yet, but that won't last long.
Corrugated sheet metal housing has gone up for the workers, and the monk's
temple and small bunk house are in process. There are tons of straw on site
for roofing of these structures.
Dr. Aditya has set up a temporary clinic in the long house, and the
reservoir and pond have been shored up to collect rainfall. A jack well has
been installed, and we have a new truck and generator.
Many permaculture swales have been dug, and ditches have been dug to prevent
erosion near the building site.
100 trees have been planted in the orchard, and 100 more are about to go
into the nursery area. The nursery/garden has loads of banana trees and
papaya trees planted, and beds have been sown with Indian pulses and
vegetables. The nursery/garden has a fence enclosing it, and is right in
front of the long house.
It is thrilling to see this progress! and a joy to realize that Master's and
Swamiji's first Ananda Community in India is finally coming into
manifestation!
Keep this project in your hearts and prayers.
We are hoping to build tent platforms soon, so that people can come and help
with gardening and building.
Aum, Nirmala
